Hilarious at times, poignant and hard-hitting at the ideal others, this production was designed to speak to the heart of every modern woman and every right-thinking male.
Urban Suburban Productions was founded in 2010 by five theatre enthusiasts — Arati Singh, Farah Singh, Ruby Kapoor, Sumita Tayal and Vanessa Ohri with clear vision to create meaningful entertainment for urban audiences using high production standards to create magic through drama. USP is also committed to donating the profits from each production towards a deserving cause.
Festival of Hope 2013
The rising instance of breast cancer in young women has led the Indian Cancer Society (ICS) to declare 2013 as the Year of Breast Cancer Awareness. The organisation has been organising various initiatives to create awareness about this disease among the masses. The knowledge thus imparted may make women respect and be conscious of
diseases that can be cured if detected in the initial stages.
One such event, The Festival of Hope 2013 – The Pink Blue Ribbon Fest, was organised by DLF 5 in association with ICS at The City Club, DLF 5 with the crème de la crème of the city in full attendance to support the noble cause.
In its second edition, the Pink Blue Ribbon Fest celebrated the spirit and courage of breast cancer survivors with the aim to reach out and significantly increase the number of patients who never consult about reconstruction after going through the emotional and physical trauma of cancer treatment.
The event, co-hosted by DLF 5 and Bholasons, showcased creative genius of select designers on models who were all breast cancer reconstruction patients. The participating designers included Pam Mehta, Gopa Kumar, Shalini Arora Kochhar, Sagrika Mittal Goyal, Deepa Arora, Pawan Sachdeva, Bharat Reshma Grover, Amit Talwar Trekaaya, Smit Raj Gayanani and Ramonn Lamba. The corporates who joined hands to support this cause included Sahara Q Shop, Pepsi, UB group, Sonear and News Nation.
The evening also saw singer Anamika enthralling the audience with the beats of her song Boom Boom, a tribute to iconic pop singer Nazia Hassan who lost her life to cancer. Bollywood actors Jackie Shroff and Swaroop Sampat graced the occasion with their presence while Shalini Arora Kochhar launched her jewellery brand, Sak’s, at the event.
An extraordinary confluence of fashion, Sufi music and luxury-lifestyle exhibition was organised at The Ballroom, The City Club, Gurgaon. Named Folk Forward, the strictly-by invitation event for DLF 5 residents and city’s luxury connoisseurs was held in association with AUDI Gurgaon and Jack Daniel’s as an associate partner.
The highlight of the evening was the preview of celebrated designers Rabani & Rakha’s latest cocktail gowns, followed by a soulful Sufi sojourn by the musical group of Nizami Brothers. The cocktail line of Rabani & Rakha offered a fresh approach to the glamorous gowns in greys and blacks. The new gowns were cut close to the body and embellished with Swarovski crystals and other jewels. The look was inspired by the rich Mughal heritage of our country.
The event was attended by the city’s crème de la crème including Aakash Ohri, Hanish Gupta, Nidhi Anand Gupta, Ashwani Dhawan, Anu PD, Vineet and Namrita Malholtra, Nimit and Kanika Mehta, Soren Lauridsen, Monica and many more. Speaking on the occasion, Aakash Ohri, Director (Business Development), DLF, said, “The residents of DLF 5 are very discerning, affluent, well-travelled and well-informed. It’s been our pleasure and privilege to be of service to them. We have been actively engaging with our residents and over the past years have set up various infra projects like the sewage treatment plant, fire station, 24×7 electronic security and electric sub-stations.
We intend to make DLF 5 City Club a social, cultural and sporting hub which will serve as a second home to our residents.” He also thanked the event partners Audi Gurgaon, Jack Daniel’s and Rutbaa for coming on board to launch this unique initiative. “We sincerely hope to meet the aspirations of our residents and uphold the highest standards for which DLF has been known for all these years,” Ohri added.
