Shalini Vig Wadhwa in association with Indian Cancer Society has been working on creating awareness for all types of Cancer via various fashion events since the last two years. The event is a fund raiser where people walk the ramp, along with Cancer Survivors, to support cancer awareness and contribute to the research and development teams of the Indian Cancer Society. The last four events saw more than 250 ‘Leaders of Hope’ walk the ramp to support the cause. This year, it was organised on November 21st and 22nd at DLF Cyber Hub, Gurgaon.
Shalini Vig Wadhwa, Founder Festival of Hope, quoted, ‘This is the 5th edition of this beautiful journey with so many people who have now been involved in supporting the cancer awareness through the Festival of Hope. Every time we touch new audiences who then get associated and support us even further. It also helps reaching a larger audience to create and send the message that Cancer is Curable if diagnosed in time.’
Jyotsna Govil, from Indian Cancer Society quoted that, “Fully engaging in positive living! It’s your life! It’s your choice! Our recommendation – Regular annual screening for cancer’.
The 5th edition of the ‘Festival of Hope’ was supported by Bholasons Jewellers & designer JJ Valaya. Shri Dharamveer Singh/MP/Bhiwani was the Chief Guest for the evening.
The 2 day event also hosted 15 lifestyle stalls during the day along with other cultural activities like Music by Madhur Mann, Art by Dhoomimal Gallery and Priyendra Shukla, Nukkad Natak by Gurgaon Circle of Moms and Noida moms, Cancer awareness Programs by Indian Cancer Society, singers like Anand Parmar, Twinkle Vinayak and Stuti Chandok, Dancers from Mudra Dance Academy and Amit Talwar Trekaaya, Performances by World of talent and a Fund raising bike ride by the Motorhead Motorcycle Club.
An exclusive Fashion show by JJ Valaya and Bholasons, with 75 models, was held in the evening on 21st November. ‘It is indeed our pleasure to support this noble cause. The main sponsors for the evening were Bholasons Jewellers, Dr. Bhola’s quoted, ‘We may never understand illnesses such as cancer. But an ounce of prevention is worth more than a million pounds of cure. We as Bholasons always support such initiatives.’
Almost 75 leaders in their own domain, residents of DLF Luxury, CEO’s, Models, Celebrities, students etc. walked the ramp to support Cancer Awareness. These included Mrs. India 2013. Megha Arup; Sanjeev Bijli JMD PVR, Vikram Baidyanath, Doctor Amit Bhasin, Shalini Arpraa Kochhar, Neeraj Sachdeva, Aman Hora etc.
Shamshir Rai Luthra was the MC for the evening. ALPS, Bharti Taneja’s institute was the grooming partner on board.
A book by a budding author Mr. Kundan Srivastava, ‘Title Is Untitled’ was unveiled by Dr Bhola and Sanjeev Bijli. The Book represents Facts about various problems in the present urban and rural societies of India are presented wrapped in fiction, like case studies to elaborate them. Women of our country are often victims to most issues like rape, marital rape, prostitution, child marriage, child trafficking and others. Not to ignore the men who are also victims to women framing them in false cases of impotency and domestic violence.
On 22nd November at 2 pm a fund raising Tambola was organized by the Indian Cancer Society.
